Objectives
Work programme proposals:
- To gather and collate evidence on the Knowledge Economy for each Diamond area
- Establish what the Knowledge Economy means for each of the Diamond areas, and also what each area aspires to in Knowledge Economy terms
- Identify the common threads which allow local economies to achieve their goals - based on knowledge
- Make effective interventions by creating networks, aligning interests and diffusing information to ensure that consideration is ground in the Planning process
- Monitor and benchmark the interventions
Work Plan
Having worked with the Economic Research team at SEEDA to establish baseline data and relevant indicators to monitor Knowledge Economy performance, the group is now working to understand what the Diamond authorities and their partners can do to drive performance in this sector.
This work currently involves hosting a number of workshops across the region with local authorities, RDA representatives, universities, businesses and knowledge economy practitioners to seek to understand the key drivers and generators of success in the knowledge economy. These workshop outcomes will be developed into a report and action plan, to be taken to the Diamonds Board in 2009.
